Life Experience

The seventh of twelve children born to IU’s first President Andrew Wylie, Samuel Theophylact Wylie graduated from IU at age eighteen. He obtained his law degree from IU in 1845. He died less than five years later at age twenty-five of typhoid fever. President Wylie grieved for him for years afterward. Wylie was brother of Andrew Wylie, Jr., Craig Ritchie Wylie, and John Hosea Wylie.
