Robert Newton Fee was educated in Bloomington, Indiana. He was a preacher and a minister of the Gospel. He taught school and was superintendent of the public schools in Iowa. He was chaplain at Camp McClelland in Davenport, Iowa. He moved to the Idaho Territory, where he became a missionary and teacher among the Indians, serving there for the rest of his life.
Fee married Isabella G. Monteith on September 6, 1848. They had one daughter.
