Edwin Lindley Armstrong was born the fourth of eight children. Armstrong graduated from IU and then the Cincinnati Law School. He was twice elected to the Ohio State Senate and twice more to the Ohio House of Representatives. He was a manager of his father’s wool and cloth mills along the Little Miami River. His younger brother, Thomas, took over the mills upon Armstrong’s death. They ceased operation in 1863. Armstrong was outlived by both his father and mother and his younger brother, Thomas.
